Getting yourself through hospital isn’t the easiest experience and you need to be ready for it to be a bit rough sometimes. I’d go through stages of frustration and feeling a bit low throughout the day even! This is totally normal but you need to find a way to pick yourself up again.

I am (and always have been) a big lover of music and quotes to get yourself back on track. So I thought I’d create a little sanctuary of the quotes that got me through when I was feeling rubbish. Some of them are more personal to my family and my situation and some of them will be more uplifting.

I’ll also include some particularly key songs that picked me up in just the right moment! Spotify has saved me, that’s for sure!

Quotes

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“Always Remember Rule #3” – family. I was trying to remember the origin of this one and I believe it comes from A Clockwork Orange when a character talks about three rules, “keep your head down, your nose clean, and don’t let the bastards grind you down. In my family we skip the others and head straight for “Always remember Rule #3”.

“Tough times don’t last, tough people do” – Robert H. Schuller

“You have to be at your strongest when you’re feeling at your weakest”

“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light” – Aristotle Onassis

“If you get tired, learn to rest, not quit”

Songs

Move your feet – Junior Senior

Turn Around – Phats and Small, Toney Lee

Meant to Be – BeBe Rexha –  this is mine and Jordans song and got me through a couple of tricky moments

Darkness – Eminem – one of the days I had a really bad panic attack while I was in hospital and nothing was calming me down. I couldn’t use any of my normal techniques because of the situation I was in and it was really tough. I put my headphones on to try and focus and this song came on. Something about the pace and beat of the tone really got me out of the panic attack – no idea why!
